Panda Base |
Woke up early today to visit 3 different places in Cheng Du. First, the
Panda research facility, second, it’s one of the famous tourist attraction, Du
Fu’s temple, and lastly, the “Wu Hou” Temple. The long journey to the Panda
research facility was worth it! It’s my first time seeing a Panda with my own
eyes.

Their cute
behaviour tells me that such creatures are unique, as they have great feelings
for their own kind. I feel sad as these animals are coming to an extinction and only a few hundred remain. It is also important that these mammals should live longer, for the benefits of the next generation. It’s also seeing a red panda for the first time. They have
nice red and black colour, with a long tail.

We then
made our way to the Du Fu’s temple. It’s said that, one must visit the Du Fu’s
temple if you are in Cheng Du, otherwise, it isn’t considered that you have
been to Cheng Du. It consist of nice poems, however, it’s all in Chinese, so I
had difficulty understanding it.

Lastly, we
visited the “Wu Hou” temple. It’s a place where Liu Bei, and his sworn brothers,
Zhang Fei and Guan Yu were buried. They had statues of each great warriors of
the “Shu” Kingdom. In the 3 Kingdoms, Ma Chao is my favourite character.

Manage to
take a picture with the statue, its awesome! After a long day, we tried the “Ma
La” snacks. The Chinese word, “Ma La” means spicy and numb. Had a blast when I went round eating the
spicy food, made me warmer. We had dinner at the same restaurant, and went back
to school for early rest. Tomorrow is shopping day! And I want to sleep in.
Guess I’m going to sleep now! Nights
Nicholas
